Our Background

Act 2 is a lively and inclusive community theatre group for young people aged 3 to 20! We started small with just seven students, but now we’re a thriving hub for over 200 aspiring performers in East London. We offer classes five nights a week. Our goal is to inspire creativity through acting, movement, improvisation, and drama games, all tailored to each age group. Come join us and let your creativity shine in a safe and supportive environment. We’ve got an amazing network of students and alumni who’ll be there to cheer you on!

Founder of ACT2

Amanda Goodwin

Amanda brings over 20 years of experience in the industry, having launched our theatre school film agency, AMG Associates and our registered charity Act 2 Aid dedicated to the arts, . Now, as a consultant agent in the TV and film industry, she has handed over the teaching baton but remains deeply connected to her roots. You can expect to see her at rehearsals, always on the lookout for the next talented star waiting in the wings. Her passion for nurturing talent continues to shine through in everything she does.

Adam Goodwin

Adam has been teaching drama to kids for over 25 years and heads most of the classes as well as directing our main shows. In a previous version of himself he was a professional actor, appearing in well loved TV shows and Theatre productions. Adam is also a Bafta and Royal Television Society Award winning writer having co-written TV shows for BBC, CBBC, ITV, Channel 4, Nickelodeon and NBC/Sprout. If that wasn’t enough he has also co-authored many best-selling humour books.

Gemma Saunders

Gemma is an actor and voiceover actor. She has worked in theatre, TV and radio since 1999. She recently directed Romeo and Juliet as part of the Coram Shakespeare Festival for Selwyn Primary and she is really looking forward to continuing her work with ACT2 and her main class ACT2 Minis

Dean "Machine" Gordon

We are thrilled to announce that Dean will be staying with us this term! After achieving fantastic A-Level results, he has chosen to take a year off before heading to University or an internship, which is a win-win for us and the kids who adore him. Dean is an integral part of ACT2 and also part of our Agency, AMG Associates. Fingers crossed, we’ll see him shining on stage or the big soon—but for now, we’re just glad to have him with us a little longer!

Savio Kevin Lubega

Meet Savio, one of our talented assistants at Act2. With a wealth of experience in teaching drama and music , he has successfully led both individual and group sessions, students through rehearsals and performances. Currently a student at Trinity Laban, Savio is passionate about classical guitar and shares his musical journey on social media. His dedication to supporting our students shines through as he builds ways for them to express themselves creatively.

Valerie Cox

Valeries journey has been a vibrant tapestry woven with acting, singing, dancing, and cheerleading, before embraced a fulfilling career in science and marketing. After dedicating time to raise her children, she turned her passion for mentorship into action, helping others unlock their academic potential through engaging and creative approaches. With extensive in performing arts, from building sets to singing at Carnegie Hall she is passionate about nurturing confidence and resilience, ensuring that talent shines both on and off the stage. Valerie’s unique blend of creativity and expertise makes her an inspiring guide for aspiring performers and alike.

Sylvia Litchfield

Sylvia is an enthusiastic musical theatre lover who has participated in several productions with her school and dance academy, she is currently pursuing drama and dance GCSE, along with singing lessons. Sylvia is excited to continue her artistic journey into college. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to share her passion and experience with the younger students at Act2 Drama. Sylvia looks forward to inspiring and guiding them as they explore the world of performance together.

Welcome back, Harry! We are thrilled to have you rejoin our team. With your experience in both short films and teaching children of various ages, you bring a unique perspective to our program. Your background in the JSLA young coaching program and over a year of teaching experience will surely inspire our students.

Kudzaishe is a dedicated member of the team and a gap year student with a passion for drama and musical theatre. Having been an assistant with Act2 for over a year, she is eager to share her experiences and knowledge with the younger students. Kudzaishe is excited about the opportunity to teach drama skills and make a lasting impact on the Act2 community She looks forward to inspiring the next generation of performers. She is also an amazing cake baker!

Elsa has been a dedicated member of Act2 since its inception, showcasing her love for the stage from Year 1. With a passion school productions, she is thrilled to mentor younger students at Act2. As she prepares to study at GCSE, Elsa eagerly anticipates further nurturing her passion for theatre and embracing new creative challenges

Eleonore has been a member of ACT2 since 2020, and her journey here has been nothing short of remarkable. Since starting to work in 2021, she has cherished every moment, incredible friendships along the way. Through her experiences, she has also cultivated exceptional communication skills while engaging with the kids, making a positive impact in their lives.

Amelia Holland

Amelia has been a dedicated assistant at Act 2 for a year, supporting the mini Monday group and helping students shine during performances. With aspirations of becoming a teacher, she is excited to guide younger students at Act 2 Drama. Amelia's passion for the performing arts drives her commitment to helping students express themselves and build their self-confidence, both on and off stage. Her enthusiasm and support create a nurturing environment for all aspiring performers.

At our classes , we believe in providing the best support for our students. That's why, alongside our core team, we have dedicated assistants in every class to help the children thrive and keep our teachers focused. Our assistants include performing arts graduates, talented Academy Seniors, and yspecial guests from the industry, ensuring a rich and nurturing environment for all. Together we create a dynamic and supportive learning experience that fosters creativity and growth

We are thrilled to have our ACT2 Aid Volunteers joining us in our classes and holiday clubs whenever possible! Comprising both past and present Academy students, our ambassadors bring invaluable energy and support to our programs. Their dedication and teaching enhance the experience for everyone involved. Thank you for being an essential part of our community

We are excited to announce that ACT2 is offering volunteer positions for our current seniors seeking valuable experience for their Duke of Edinburgh and UCAS points, as well as teacher training opportunities. We are especially delighted to extend this opportunity to Anna, who has been part of our ACT2 family since she was just 7 years old. Her journey with us has been inspiring, and we look forward to Anna Lombardi joining us this term and seeing her thrive in this new role!

Ivy, our lovable Cockapoo, who is always ready to brighten our days! Whether she’s sitting in on classes or stealing cuddles, Ivy brings joy wherever she goes. Although her big acting debut for a popular dog brand didn’t go as planned due to a 'little mishap', the kids adore her playful spirit. You can often find Ivy darting around our venues, spreading fun and laughter!
